Since 1933, Huguet has made hydraulic floor tiles and terrazzo pieces using age-old production techniques. Designs pay tribute to both past traditions and contemporary motifs. Tiles feature natural pigments and are made by hand with ever so slight variations so each piece is truly one of a kind. The workshop’s products feature in the Son Espanyolet project by Besuto Homes.
This Palma-based furniture and pattern design studio mixes traditional crafts with modern influences. Designer Anna Lena Kortmann, a former interior and exhibition architect from Berlin, weaves pieces by hand. The studio seeks to preserve traditional manufacturing techniques and its artisans produce a collection of handcrafted furniture using hand-selected oak, artisanal linen and recycled cotton cord.
The brainchild of Mauricio Obarrio and Juan Peralta, CONTAIN is a lighting and furniture design studio. They collaborate with local artisans and industry to combine the latest technology with handmade production methods and materials such as brass, glass and solid wood. Their latest collection uses Alabaster stone mined from a Spanish quarry to create a beautiful light fixture that is both handcrafted and highly engineered.
This Palma-based ceramics studio was founded by Italian native Roberto Paparcone, an architect and interior designer. The brand offers a stunning range of lovingly crafted vases, plates and other handmade crockery. The studio works with a range of international clients to create custom pieces for the worlds of art, architecture and gastronomy.
‘2MONOS is a Mallorca-based self-production studio launched in 2010. It brings together a pair of creatives from the fields of architecture, sculpture and design. It offers highly personalized and high-quality pieces ranging from
seating to lighting to kitchen design. Projects include retail concepts and furniture design for commercial spaces, private residences and exhibitions. The studio stresses sustainability by using natural waxes, organic textiles and traditional natural treatments in their production process.
Ediciones de Diseño La Pecera Mallorca is a small company selling design furniture, decorative arts and accessories. Founded by industrial and interior designer Marlene Albaladejo, who trained in Barcelona and Milan, it sells contemporary design pieces inspired by traditional household objects and produces them using handcrafted, sustainable methods. It has a team of expert craftspeople specialised in materials such as wood, brass, leather and textiles.
